The Long Road

Patch 08-16

The road has a horizon now, and the Storm reaches all the way down to the buttons.

  • The Watch became a frontier. WORLD / ROAD / COUNTRY zoom shows roads behind you, the country underfoot and its marks. Eight countries have distinct terrain; refused forks remain as roads into darkness. Holds pay LOOKS to lift four stages of fog from seven places per region. Ten opening looks force a direction.
  • Discoveries redirect plans. Places wait with card demands and can steer the next fork. Each region also announces a monument asking for 12 matching cards, then 15, 18 and onward. Contributed cards leave the gallery permanently, and a completed monument records every name.
  • NEW: The Field Book. Twelve pages hold nine finds each, gathered across the whole run. Copies deepen entries to three sprigs. Full pages yield THE MAKINGS, permanent ingredients for 11 Roadside dyes. Every find stays until tapped.
  • The Storm has lasting consequences. Uncountered hazards stack: weaker healing, less REST energy, dearer TRAIN, or −8% crit plus a dark briefing. The cost appears on the action it changes. Storm fights hide 10–25% of enemy facts; DARK ROAD hides 50–75% and the forecast.
  • The road bites harder. Fire battles rose ×1.45 → ×1.90 ATK; easy Watch threats fell 45% → 25% while hard rose 20% → 35%. Fresh shop stock leads with NEW, the Fireward bench scraps spare gear, and post-battle gains fly into their heroes.

These are lasting commitments: only a completed monument survives the road's 25th mark, contributed cards do not return, and several Storm conditions can now build across the final four rounds.
