The Long Road

Patch 08-22

Send Scouts beyond the fire and watch them reach new ground before you leave the map.

  • The Watch now moves in seconds. Walking one tile, scouting nearby ground, and resting each take 30 seconds. Deeper surveys take longer, but the result stays close to the decision that caused it.
  • Worlds wait safely while you are away. The dark now advances with your actions instead of the wall clock. Leave a world untouched and it will be exactly as you left it.
  • Keep several worlds open at once. Enter or open them from WORLDS. Your legacies form one shared roster, so a card working in one world is busy in every other.
  • Climb five leagues in THE STANDING. Each sealed world is measured against your current league. Strong results move you up, results near par hold your place, and a difficult world can move you down. A live pace line shows how much ground a world at this stage usually holds.
  • The map is now the centre of the Watch. Scout, Finds, The Dark, and More sit along its foot. Rooms open over the map, parties leave visible trails, and mission reports arrive at the right edge.
  • Every tile has terrain. Plains, hills, forest, and swamp appear once Scouts have learned the ground. Terrain is visual for now; its gameplay effects will come later.
  • Scouts and legacies build forward positions. They remain on the tile they reach, and their next journey begins there. You may scout with fewer people than requested for a clearly shown chance of success, then reinforce the tile for another attempt.
